Div Com Jammu reviews Republic Day celebration arrangements | KNO

JAMMU, DECEMBER 30 (KNO) : To review the arrangements for ensuing Republic Day, 2018 celebration, a high level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr. Mandeep K Bhandari here today. Senior officers from Police, Army, CRPF, Information, Health, Municipality, Education, Revenue PHE, PDD, R&B, Hospitality and Protocol, Traffic, Youth Services and Sports, Health Services and other allied departments attended the meeting. The meeting was informed that the main function would be organized at Maulana Azad (M.A) Stadium where the flag hoisting ceremony would be held followed by march past and other programmes. Divisional Commissioner exhorted upon all agencies to ensure that all necessary arrangements are put in place well in time for smooth and successful celebration of the Republic Day. Divisional Commissioner directed the Police and Traffic authorities to make elaborate security and traffic arrangements so that general public reaches to the venue hassle free. He asked the Jammu Municipal Corporation to ensure sanitation/cleanliness of the venue besides establishment of sufficient number of mobile toilets. He asked the Information Department to ensure wide publicity of the event through print and electronic media. Youth Services and Sports Department was asked to furnish list of participating contingents including school children and number of buses needed for their transportation besides setting up of control room at M.A. Stadium. Similarly PHE and PDD Departments were asked to ensure availability of safe drinking water and uninterrupted power supply. Health and Fire Services was directed to make available sufficient number of Ambulances and Fire Tenders at the venue. PDD, Tourism, JMC, JDA, Police, Hospitality and Protocol, Fire and Emergency Services departments were asked to ensure illumination of government buildings. SRTC and State Motor Garages were asked to ensure sufficient number of vehicles for transportation of school children and officials. Meanwhile committees were also constituted to finalize the selection of cultural items and programmes for the Republic Day Function. It was informed that beating the retreat ceremony will be held at M.A Stadium on 29th January, 2018 at 5.15 pm.(KNO)
